Abstract

he objective of this study was to identifythedriversto use inter-firminformation systems (IS)inSupply Chain Management (SCM). For conducting this study, required primary datawerecollected from 10business organizationsin order to achieve the objectives of this study.It wasfound that proposed three categories such as transaction processing, supply chain planning andcollaboration, andorder tracking anddelivery coordination represent well the different types of inter-firmIS uses in SCM. It wasalso foundthat the drivers behind these different categories of inter-firmIS use differfrom organization to organization;different purposes for which inter-firmIS can be used in the management of supply chains are demonstrated. It also contributedto the extant knowledge on the factors that drive business organizationsto use IS in specific ways in their SCM activities.
