The Nexus of Merger and Turnover Intention:Case Study of Ghana Revenue Authority-Ghana

The main purpose of this paper was to examine the impact of merger on employees job satisfaction and turnover intention in Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). The study was quantitative in nature and a cross-sectional survey design was used to obtain data from 313 respondents. Purposive sampling was used to select the target organization and stratified sampling was utilized to ensure fair representation within the three main divisions under Ghana Revenue Authority. In addition, a convenient sampling technique was used to select respondents. Linear regression was employed to analyze the data obtained from the target population. The findings of the study found the effect on turnover intention was significant after the merger, that is employees express rejection and dissatisfaction with regards to the merger of the three revenue agencies(VAT, CEPS, IRS) thus, contributed to employeesintention to quit. The study recommends that management must establish sound and effective strategies in the form of provision of better working conditions, effective communication between management and employees, promoting teamwork and a sound workplace culture in post-merger stage.
